A trekking day begins early in the morning. Visitors meet at the park entrance at 7:00 a.m. After a detailed briefing by the rangers, groups of up to eight people are formed, each assigned to a gorilla family.
The walk can last between one and six hours, depending on the animals' location. The encounter itself is limited to a maximum of one hour to avoid stressing the animals. Afterward, the return journey begins – often with a small certificate as a souvenir.
